Cromwell

yeah i know the one you’re talking about. like i said before the dimensions of the rooms vary. i’m 99.9% positive though that the large majority of the people on my floor did not have an L shape. i can’t think of anyone who had it like that. now that’s not to say it isn’t impossible but whether or not it’s possible will depend on a few factors unique to the room you’re in.

the Cromwell lounges were known for hosting a high degree of sexual activity…so be well prepared…or buy earplugs

centralprkwest did you hear about this? or did you experience this firsthand?

centralprkwest have you heard about this recently? from your thread you graduated in '98 it might have changed since then

i can guarantee you that nothing happened in the lounge on my floor. not only would the people next door have heard but security it seems would sometimes do walk throughs of the floors (i know cause they once found my roommate’s ID in the lounge and banged on our door at 3 am to give it back to her).

wowww you would think that could wait until a reasonable hour lol

haha yeah it is quite interesting waking up to the sounds of someone banging on your door and random male voices out in the hall. although, i guess it was sort of a good thing. i suppose they wanted to make sure she was safe lol

wow lol well i heard they stepped up security since fiocco*

Who’s fiocco?

Hazeleyz,
When you moved in were the beds already bunked meaning that even the staff at TCNJ did not know how to unbunk them and have room for all of the furntiure on the floor… or were the beds and all other furniture positioned somewhere on the floor and you/your roommate did not like the set-up? Just curious if students arrive to see bunk beds already there. I understand your comment about where the ethernet port is so we will be extra long cords to try to work around their location.

Ours were already bunked. Honestly I don’t know if the staff does this for all the rooms or not. I do remember though being told that if we unbunked our beds we’d have to give the little hook things (i have no idea what they’re called, i don’t even know if they’re hooks lol) that kept the beds together back to the hall office, so maybe they bunk all of the beds so that everyone has them? Also I do believe that they clean all the rooms so they may also bunk the beds just so that they can clean.

I know in cromwell you don’t get real closets (more like an armwar). Did you find that you had enough room in it? Also, wouldn’t having 2 armwars in the room take up a lot of space?

Yes, I found that I had enough space in the closets and no, my roommate and I did not find that they took up that much room. I know the rooms in Cromwell are small but honestly my roommate and I never even noticed.

HazelEyz - what room number did you have that had doors located so that you could not unbunk beds. You said your room had 2 doors, one to hall and one to bathroom. Don’t all of the Cromwell rooms have 2 doors?

The 2 rooms of a suite that are on the same side of the bathroom technically only have one door. This door leads into the mini hallway…it is from the hallway that there is one door leading into the bathroom and another into the main hallway. Our room was the one that was on the other side of the bathroom. We had one door that led DIRECTLY into the bathroom and another that lead DIRECTLY into the main hallway.

Like I said before, the dimensions of all the rooms vary, so just because we could not figure out a desirable layout with unbunked beds in our room does not mean someone else will. It is very likely that the people in our room this year will have unbunked beds. My roommate and I chose the layout that we felt at the time was the most conducive to the room (it gave us the most floor space as having unbunked beds would have been a lot more cramped in our opinions). If we had tried a little harder, yes, we probably could have come up with some way to have unbunked beds. However, it was not a priority for us so we really didn’t put in the effort.
