Cross-College Majors?

The NYU web site is confusing, or maybe I'm really stupid, because I can't navigate it. Does anyone know whether it's possible to study intensively (not necessarily major, although that would be nice) in more than one of the Colleges? Like, say I wanted to study for a degree in English ed. from Steinhardt but also wanted to do philosophy or history work in the CAS...would I be permitted to do that?

I was reading on the NYU board, and one applicant wanted to know if it was possible to study Music at Steinhardt and still major in English at CAS. The reply was yes. However, another applicant wanted to know if she could major in Education at Steinhardt and still major in International Relations at CAS. The reply was no. So it depends on the program. International Relations is a very intense program, it would be impossible to do both. In many cases you can. But I think double-majoring in something at Tisch or Stern would be hard. CAS is the school that you can normally choose from if you want to double-major (whether you're at Steinhard or Gallatin or any other schools) or just want to double-major within CAS.

Well, a second major from CAS is what I'd be looking for, so that sounds promising. Thank you!
