If I have been in JV Cross Country for sophomore and junior year, would it make me look inconsistent to colleges if i don't join Cross Country in my senior year?

Probably, but if you don't want to don't do it.

ehn I've done soccer for three years, and this year I'm quitting. I just hate our soccer team. I'll let you know how my college admissions goes. =P

Agree...don't run unless YOU want to. I am sure you have more going fro you than JV CC and the big picture is what is important.

ditto on the soccer thing. if you don't want to do cross country don't do it, you will be miserable and it won't be worth it just to do it for college.

most colleges (maybe 97% or more) admit students based almost entirely on grades and scores. ECs hardly matter, no matter what your guidance counselor has been telling you to scare you into joining. For the selective colleges, merely being a member of a team is not enough. They are looking for the kids that are all-city, all-state, on the Olympic team for the most selective colleges. If you want to see a list of what strong ECs look like, take a look at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=210497

In short, just being a member of the team isn't going to matter so much no matter where you're applying. So join if you want, but don't do it for what you guess colleges will think of it.

Plenty of people get into those schools without said titles, or "weak" EC's.
Some CC members highly overestimate what is absolutely needed to get into top schools.

(With that said, having barely any EC's isn't going to help you at all.)
