This is one of the things that excites me most about Swarthmore. However, I've heard it said more than once that the opportunity is oversold and that cross Enrolling at any of the other consortium schools, especially Penn, is uncommon and impractical. Can someone give me a clear idea of the state of affairs in this respect?

My daughter ('07) took classes at both Haverford and Penn. It’s a bit more of a hassle at Penn - you take the train rather than the shuttle bus - but certainly doable. There may be more restrictions on cross enrolling at Penn. As I recall you have to show that either the class is not offered at Swat or you have a scheduling conflict for the similar class at Swat. From what I recall there are fewer or possibly no restrictions on cross enrolling at Haverford or Bryn Mawr. You do, of course, have to factor in the time to get to class at a different campus.
