As I watch news stories rolling out, I’m getting nervous for our kiddos 2021-2022 experience. I have an incoming freshman, but thanks to many of you sharing your personal experience with W&L’s handling of covid protocols over the past year plus, I am cautiously optimistic. Is it too much to hope and pray and cross fingers and toes that our kids will have a “normal” college experience?
Just venting… but would love to know I’m not the only one.
Just dropped my son off. Other than masks in buildings, all seems “normal” to me. We could move in any time (no assigned time, no restrictions on number of people in dorms). Transmission rates in Rockbridge County seem low compared to most other places in the US. Best of luck to your families as you get ready to go to Lexington!
How exciting! I’m glad it went well and seems “normal”… I hope it stays that way. My D moves in for pre-O on the 29th.
I believe your son plays soccer? I saw on the parents FB page that the football game will be away on parents’ weekend so I bet boys’ soccer gets an especially big crowd then!
DS made it through the remnants of Hurricane Ida while on his Appalachian Adventure without a mask. He is so glad he turned down UChicago (governor ordered masking) Rice (already on full remote) and Tulane (evacuated to Houston). Go Generals!
Small correction -my DD turned down W&L for Rice, which is not on full remote. Only 6% of classes which are greater than 51+ students were asked to go virtual. Many professors asked for waivers to stay in person. All of my DDs classes are fully in person. Glad your DS is happy at W&L.
Thanks for the in person update. My comment was based on a NYT article dated 20Aug21. Rice is a great school. For my DS, it all came down to merit based aid. W&L gave him the big name merit scholarship that gave him the recognition he thought he had earned. Good luck to your DD.
