I am currently registering for classes, and i was a bit late this year, so i cant seem to register for one of my classes. there is a cross listed class that is under a different department name but has the same class name, room, and time slot that is still open. its the exact same class but im woried that because of the different department it wont count for my degree plan.
Sign up for it for now and send your advisor an email asking him/her what you should do. At least make sure you’re enrolled in the course though.
At my uni, it would count as a requirement for either department no matter which title you’re signed up for. But that is just my uni and that doesn’t make it universal!
Ask your major department if taking the cross listed version will count toward your degree requirements.
You could enroll in the cross listed version and put yourself on the wait list for the version you want. That may cause them to be more lenient in switching you to the version you want if you already have a space in the actual class.
At my school, it would count for your degree, no matter what department you are technically signed up under since it’s the same class. Sign up for it, and then ask your advisor. Even if it doesn’t automatically count for your degree requirements, they may be able to override it and manually give you credit towards your degree.
Sign up for the class. At my school (like other posters have mentioned) the course would count towards degree plans in either department.
