CS: Berkeley vs UT Austin

Hi all,

While I am still waiting on a couple schools, I was unexpectedly accepted to Berkeley for L&S CS after getting waitlisted at UCLA… weird. Anyway, I’ll most likely have to end up choosing between Berkeley and UT Austin. I’m out of state for both. I haven’t visited Berkeley but absolutely adored Austin, both the school and the city.

I was wondering if anyone had any insight into their CS programs? Berkeley seems to be higher ranked but not by much. And, considering some Berkeley CS classes are over 1,000 students, I think the better education would be found at UT Austin. Can someone prove me wrong?

If you want academic challenges, then choose Berkeley where there is a higher level of Asian students (with different studying ethics).
Otherwise, go to UT Austin.
In the working world, a degree is a degree. They pay the same for the same job title as long as the job gets done.
