This article has me really worried as a potential CS major in the LSA, because I’m an international students, and have 0 AP credits. Because I will have lower priority for course registration than those students coming in with a ton of credits, how likely am I to miss out on my choice of courses?
It is a concern, no doubt. It is one of the reasons the school of information is taking off (that and they offer some really cool stuff). But check wherever else you are considering. Same problems everywhere. Even worse at some of the smaller liberal arts schools. When we toured campuses, we heard stories at some of them of only getting one or two CS classes per year at some of them.
The field is growing like crazy and people with PhD’s are being offered jobs in industry. Not enough faculty. It is just the math.
