I was admitted into these two schools under a computer science major. I realize these are two extremely good schools, but CS at GT will be much better - I’ve heard from Wash U students that I should go to GT because CS at Wash U sucks lol. However, my parents believe that since Wash U is a private school it will be a much better environment for my next 4 years. I am OOS for Georgia Tech, and the cost will be $50k and Wash U will be around $70k. Personally I am leaning towards Georgia Tech because of their CS program and the return on investment after graduation but I realize Wash U does have benefits and advantages.
Thank you in advance for your time in answering my question! I’m looking to commit around the end of this week.
I think this would be a no brainer for any STEM related degree. The CS program at GT will offer you many more opportunities, the cost is less, and the quality of education is no less.
A categorical statement like that is almost never true when it comes to groups of colleges. GT has plenty to offer in terms of its environment as well as its superior CS program. Another vote for GT here.
Might be late to the ball game here but I think the question under the hood here is are you sticking with CS? (Which totally cool if yes or no)
This same question (School A, Major Y vs School B, Major Y) where school B < school A but School A, Major Y < School B, Major Y has been asked many times and boils down to the confidence in Y. So at the risk of sounding trite, do you think you graduate with a CS degree? Why?
