C's in my 2 AP's

So my junior year I took 2 IB classes and they were fine I got an A in both, so I decided to take AP’s for my senior year (Bio and World History). It’s my senior year and I’m looking at a D in WH and a C in Bio, its not the end of the year but would it be better to have a low grade in an AP or an A in an honors class? (and I have a C- in an honors class…but I recently moved up, does that make it better?).

Will I get into at least one college?

The A is better in this case. But who said you are going to get an A in honors? A D is always fairly disastrous. And a C means you aren’t doing the work or you aren’t up to that level. You just aren’t putting in enough work. No it doesn’t make anything better, sorry to say. AP Bio and WH are two demanding classes though.

One of 3 things is happening:

  1. You are not trying at all
  2. You are not capable
  3. You are working inefficiently

AP Classes are like 1 semester of college spread out over a year in HS. So it is not as fast paced as college. You need to show to yourself that you can do this level of class!

Go to your teacher and talk about your situation. Ask what successful students do. This will probably include reading the chapter before it is taught, going to the teacher for help, getting a tutor, forming a study group.

Turn off the TV/PC/PHone and study the chapter/do the homework. Look on line for extra info…for example if you are learning how the nerves work or soemthing, google for videos about it. Make sure you look at any info the teacher has such as study guides. Get an AP Bio study guide from the store.
