I am completelyyyyy stuck between Carnegie and Berkeley.

Berkeley has (which Carnegie doesn’t): AWESOME weather, lower cost (probably, still don’t know), and a really big campus that would guarantee me exercise as well as an ability to never leave campus.

But Carnegie has (which Berkeley doesn’t): a guaranteed CS major, a more concentrated program for CS, more people who are as hardcore into CS as me. (if you can’t tell, I’m pretty passionate about CS).

I’m still unsure as to which campus would be better for someone who doesn’t drink or party…a big “party school” that has more people, therefore a bigger chance of finding people who don’t like to drink, or a small school with apparently bad weather and nothing to do, therefore possibly more nerds to locate.

So, if you’re a current student either applying for the CS major, or made it in already, can you tell me a few things:
- How hard would it be to get into the CS major for someone who’s 5th in her class currently, 2290 (1530) SAT, taking 6 APs currently, and works hard?

Would Berkeley be a good school for someone who’s pretty much settled in her decision to major in CS, but also loves math and things involving it? But finds it…difficult to like any other subject (although I’m not STRICTLY a math/technology person, I like reading/music/etc.)

How many English/History classes are required? I HATE history …with almost as much passion as I love CS.
**And if it IS a lot of english/history classes, how hard is it to get into CoE w/a petition after the first year? I don’t like engineering but it’s a love/hate feeling…I could possibly get used to it. Versus my feelings for history…which are PURE HATE.

If anyone could help me with / give me their opinion on my situation, I’d reallyyyy appreciate it. I’m so completely confused and stuck right now.
