CS major with situation looking bleak

I am currently a junior attending a top 5 CS program with a GPA of 3.4, but I am currently failing in getting an internship. I have interviewed with bunch of companies for internship last semester (Salesforce.com, Morgan Stanley, Microsoft, General Electric, Facebook, Capital IQ, Palantir, GHS, etc.) but have failed every single interview. What should I do? I just hope that I can get ANY kind of internship before the summer. Also, in the worst case scenario, if I graduate without having any internship experience, does it significantly mar my chances of getting employed for full-time?

Any help would be appreciated! My self-esteem has been dropping exponentially every passing day :(.

I think you are a bit early to get any replies. Is there a job fairs held in Jan-Feb at your school? We are in severe economic slump, even our son with internships from microsoft (2), other companies and situations, great recommendations, assistant to award winning professors, MSCS, BSME, BSHCI, graduated with very high honors, top 5 (?) engineering school, is having trouble in finding a job.

Cast your net wider, and not necessarily look to the big names. Often smaller companies need special help that a summer student can provide. Our S has had some couple of summer jobs/internships that were less than exciting and were with big name companies.

Your best friends are your Academic Advisor and your professors.

Out of curiosity, what school do you go to?

As to your question, you scored interviews with a bunch of top companies. Don't give up hope. Hit the winter career fair and try it again. If nothing else, ask if hiring decisions were made on fall interviews. A lot of companies drastically cut back offers in the fall and won't do much in the winter. I'm currently co-oping and going through the summer...out of curiosity I've checked out the winter career fair listings at school...there are still many big companies coming (including a couple you mentioned,) but it sure is ugly compared to years past.

You should see if your school allows you to do mock interviews or if they keep a record of comments from interviewers on how they felt your performance was. It sounds like you look great on paper, but maybe there's something that's been off-putting to all of the companies you've interviewed with that only comes out in person?

I did get an internship this summer, although its not the company I wanted to work for…
Hopefully, I can get through companies like Microsoft next semester.

dsmo: I attend a school in Midwest.
