I'm a freshman in college. I'm trying to decide my major. Does being a Computer Science major hurt my chances for law school?

No. Law schools care about GPA and LSTAT. What you major in has little affect on the chances of admission besides the fact that it's harder to get a high GPA in some majors than others.

effect*

Like bjwbell said, more or less. As long as you are able to maintain a high GPA, you should be fine. Having said that, you should look into your school's grading curve and average GPA for CS majors.

Effect As a noun, means 'result'; as a verb, means 'to bring about,' 'to accomplish' (not to be confused with affect, which means 'to influence').
As a noun, often loosely used in perfunctory writing about fashions, music, painting, and other arts: 'a Southwestern effect'; 'effects in pale green'; 'very delicate effects'; 'subtle effects'; 'a charmng effectg was produced.'
The writer who has a definite meaning to express will not take refuge in such vagueness.

LSAT** (we know what it is --I think. So, no need to post what it stands for.)

Thanks for the definitions though, nspeds. (why do I get the feeling that you are replying directly to all of my "frivolous" posts?)

Lol. I need a copy of the "Elements of Style." It's on my buy-list.
