Which is the most used programming language?

Up! any advice?

All of those (except for maybe Harvard, but you might want to pick it because it’s Harvard) are top schools. It’s hard to distinguish one as better than the others, but I would be inclined to say MIT is the best.

I don’t know what programming languages all of those schools prefer, but I have looked through the job recruitment site for my school, and the languages most listed seemed to be (in no particular order):

C/C++/C#
Python
Ruby
Java
VBA

All of the schools you mentioned are well-respected.
Cornell
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
Rice
MIT
University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign
University of Texas - Austin
University of Maryland - College Park

I’m pretty sure that java is used the most. Some schools may use Python or C++.

Yes, I know that at MIT CS department they use python…
I am really thinking If I could do CS with physics or astrophysics…

I think you are asking the wrong question with most used language.

Choose the one with the language you like the most. This is a critical factor I think. Python, C#, and java are good for money making. This is because they allow fast programming with their huge libraries and python’s easy versatility. But for speed critical things, like databases, you better believe they are programmed in compiled languages.
