I'm planning on applying to UC Berkeley for computer science, but I don't know whether I should go for CS in L&S or EECS in Engineering. My stats are:

SAT - 2170 (M 770, R 730, W 670); 2130 (M 700, R 750, W 680)
SAT II- Math 2 (790), Physics (730, just retook it and waiting for scores to come out)
UW GPA- 3. 96, W GPA - 4.74, UC GPA - 4.72 (don't think I did this right?)
4 yrs of JV cross country and track
12 years of piano: CM Advanced level; National Guild Auditions
AP scholar with distinction
NHS

California high school student (i heard this makes somewhat of a difference)

I know EECS is hard to be accepted to, so should I play it safer by applying to L&S? And what about Engineering Undeclared, how difficult is it to be accepted if I put down that major? I've also seen from other threads about applying to a less popular engineering major then switching over if accepted because it's easy to switch between majors in the college of engineering. Is this advisable?

Okay! So here are my advice.
I am also a senior at high school, and want to apply to UCB and UCSD also. My sister is in UCB and this is what she said. It is HARD to switch between colleges and majors. Your SAT and GPA are actually higher than my sister when she applies to so I guess you have a pretty good chance. Everything then comes down to your essay and major.
If you love your major, then just sign up for it. If they don’t accept you, go to another school. If you want to go to UC Berkeley so bad and can stick up with any major, then sign up for the one that get in “easy.”
Good luck!
