CS thru L&S?

Hi,

I want to do CS at berkeley so I am applying to L&S (since I want more flexibility to do english classes). My question is, since you apply to L&S undeclared, are you 'guaranteed' a spot in the CS major after two years? (Assuming you're grades are good and you've done the prereqs...)

Thanks

For the time being, good grades + prereqs is enough*. This could change in the future though if there is a upswing in people wanting to do CS.

Disclaimer: This might not be true for < 1% of those applying for the major

I think you just need a 2.0 in prereqs and you’re good (aka don’t fail all your classes).

demoz is correct

if the <1% means people who flunk out of all their classes, they wouldnt graduate in any major, thus the fact that they can’t declare CS is a irrelevant symptom of a different more fundamental problem.

Assuming you are like almost every admitted and are capable of doing the work, then it should be no problem to do well enough to declare. What is hard is to excel, to earn A in everything, but passing isn’t all that hard.
