CS@William & Mary vs. ECE@Northeastern

Hello everyone

I am an international student applying for a PhD position. I am trying to make a choice between CS@WM and ECE@NEU. Here is some basic information.

As for ECE@NEU, I got the Dean's PhD Fellowship in the first year, with the total amount of stipend of $2,9589. I was requested to accept/decline the offer before March 3.

For CS@WM, the result would be announced at least in next ten days. One professor told me I can be admitted with high possibility, and he will push my materials to the admission committee. The TA/RA is $1,800/month.

So I must make a choice before this weekend, accepting NEU or declining it then waiting for WM. If someone has some information about these two programs, please give some advice on the choice. I really appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

Do you want to study computer science or electrical engineering? Although there is some overlap, the former deals primarily with software and the latter primarily with hardware.

W&M is a liberal arts college; Northeastern is a national research university.

I would go with Northeastern for a hard science degree.

Thanks for your reply.

I have more experience on software. But at Northeastern, the major would be computer engineering.
