CS61A: how to self-prep w/o any former CS knowledge

I don't know any CS, no programing languages, nothing. However, I really wanna take CS61A, and I have 2 months before the course starts. How should I prepare for it? (There is a test on the day of the first class which you have to pass to stay in the class). Which books...?

Also, is it insane for me to take this course with 0 background? Should I take CS3 instead... the reason I want impressive courses is coz I may have to transfer...

i wouldnt try it, but you can get "simply scheme" by professor harvey, i think its what they use in cs3

it will teach you the basic recursion you should know when entering the class. btw, they did away with the test on the first day- that was only when there were tons of students trying to make big $$$ during the dot com era

i do have a little programming experience (java, c++ - but not AP) but they told me to take cs3 at calso, is that the right move?

They took out the test? I really wanted to see it...although even if they did do it, apparently getting a 5 on CS-AB would have exempted me.

See if you can understand the book at <a href="http://mitpress.mit.edu/sicp/full-text/book/book.html%5B/url%5D">http://mitpress.mit.edu/sicp/full-text/book/book.html</a>. (This is an on-line textbook.)
