CS70 at the same time as 61A?

How much experience do you actually need for CS70? It's supposed to be similar...or the same as math 55, right?

I wanted to take math 54 (Grunbaum), but the 55 and CS70 (Haiman/Vazirani) profs seem better? Or is it safer to just take 54, and 55/CS70 and math 110 in the spring?

As far as I know, the material in Math 55 and CS 70 is similar, but not entirely the same. (I’ve only taken the equivalent of Math 55 at a community college so far.) You probably won’t be using calculus or linear algebra, so don’t worry about that. If you’re an EECS or CS major/minor, then taking Math 55 will not satisfy the discrete math requirement - only CS 70 will work.

If I were you I would take math 54 and cs 61a in the fall and take cs70 and cs61c in the spring 2013. Good luck.

Hmmm ok, I’ll go with the original plan of 54 now, and CS70 later then…thanks!!!
