Tenatively have CSE 131 on my fall schedule. Took AP Comp Sci in high school,
but don't think that the placement exam went well. I would really appreciate it if anyone
who has taken CSE 131 could comment on the course, amount of work involved, and difficulty. Thanks very much.

I aced the ap exam (AB) and still took 131. Definitely take it if you plan on taking future cs courses or you’ll end up with gaps in your thought process and understanding of computer science.

Unless you are fairly proficient in java, take the course. Even if you pass the exam, you should still take It if. You can look at the website and all topics covered are on there. It’s a fair amount of work but will be a lot easier if you’ve had some experience.

To add on to my previous comment:

It’s likely you already know most of the material that you would read in the textbook. What a loop is and how it works, etc.

What pretty much everyone needs is the additional coding experience which most high school course dont come close to meeting.
