CSS and older students?

Hey,

I've searched all over the forum and can't find anything that addresses my situation. I went back to school at 32, have very good grades (3.9) and great ECs. I think I have a pretty good shot at getting into a good LAC (transfer). The problem is that I don't understand how this CSS thing is going to work for me. I'm an independent grown up. I don't have a custodial parent. I am supporting myself while I go to school.

I make under $10,000 a year, but my parents make over $70,000 a year. My parents are not contributing to my college. They don't even want me to go to college. When my mom found out I went back to school she said it was stupid and even now completely refuses to acknowledge that I am doing very well.

I'm starting to feel like this situation is going to completely destroy my chance of actually being able to attend a good school. If I get stuck with a $20,000+ efc there is no way I can come up with it. I want to be a human rights attorney so I can't even take out loans because I won't make enough after graduating to afford paying them back.

Are students like me just out of luck?

I don't think you need to mention any of your parents income as an independent student.
