My daughter has applied ED for Fall/2009 admission. Both her father and her step-father are self-employed and must file the CSS Business/Farm Supplement. Is it better to submit the CSS Business/Farm Supplement with just etimated figures and then submit tax returns as they are filed? I'm trying to stay on top of things but I don't want to turn things in piece-meal if it will be a problem. I hope I dont sound anal but since I'm relying on other people to do the forms, I want to make sure it all gets turned in on time.

Last year I filled out the Profile in November and I didn't sent the business/farm supplement until I sent the profile corrections after my taxes were done (because if I remember correctly there are some categories of expenses you have to itemize on a separate paper if they are over a certain dollar amount) But if I were you I would call or email the financial aid office and ask what they recommend.

Thanks for the response. I'll contact the financial aid folks.

Rule #1 - don't ever call the school's fin aid office until every other posibility has been exhausted! Ever heard of the ambiguous non-custodial parent strategy? Check it out. If it applies to you, your family could save big bucks on the cost of your daughter's education.

We filled out the business/farm supplement before our taxes were done, and so did my ex. Then we made revisions as necessary. I agree that asking the financial aid office what they prefer is a good idea.
