should the css have been done BEFORE feb 1 in order to get to the processers...? in other words, am i totally screwed for turning it in today?

same question...I have a deadline on Feb. 1st, but I submitted the CSS profile yesterday night. It said on the site that the expected mailing date of the CSS proflie is on 02/08. It also said the colleges can recieve an electronic version of the CSS profile almost immediately. Will I be considered to be late still?

Check with the schools. Some of ours specifically said to submit it about a week (or earlier if mailed) - meaning the school gave two dates, one to submit, one to receive. Other schools listed 2/1 as the postmark date. Some we guessed and tried to do before the date to be on the safe side - but as all good procrastinators, we did one or two schools close to the deadline and are just hoping it's ok (these were Profile schools with supplemental questions that we were working on).

I realized too late that my DH (who was in charge of FA) didn't do detailed reading of each schools website so he didn't realize how complicated this whole mess is. The good news was we realized the problem in time and when reading the websites, we discovered that we had to do additional work such as schools' own forms or online FA applications. Thanks to CC, I found out that Cornell's FA form had to be done really, really early. Oh, and the order in which some schools want stuff done differs too. Like one school has an online form to do before the FAFSA but you have to be accepted first before you have access. Then you have to redo it later on or something. Complicated and annoying.
