Ok I feel so confused...so you send colleges your CSS and FAFSA based on 2011 I'm guessing because 2012 forms aren't here yet, correct?
And theeeeen, you send them your w2 and IRS forms? Do you send both 2011 and 2012? And I applied to 23 schools so sending those forms to each of those colleges seems like a nightmare to me.i was reading something about "verification" of IRS forms on CC? Can someone enlightenmen me please about what this verification is? Also, how do I send my FAFSA to all 23 schools? On the website, it says you can do the "remove/add" method to only 4 more colleges, which makes 14 schools in total and I applied 23 -_-. A lot of schools I applied to give 100% scholarship (ie Harvard, Wellesley etc.) because my income is around 60-65k, so should I just send my FAFSA to stingy colleges like NYU and the UC's? Would the CSS without the FAFSA be enough for the 100% scholarship colleges? Thank you!!

If your 2012 information is similar to the 2011 information, correct. The CSS profile asks you to estimate, and for most people, their 2011 financial situation is pretty darn close to their 2012 financial situation. You should file your FAFSA as ‘will file’ for now, and then you can go back in and update your 2013-14 FAFSA with the 2012 tax information using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, which will take the information listed on your taxes and file it.

You send whatever they ask for however they ask for it. Some schools require nothing. Some schools want forms sent directly to them. Some schools will use the IDOC service by Collegeboard, which basically means you send them all to one place, and CB will scan the files and send the images to your schools.

A random number of FAFSAs are selected for verification by the federal government each year. Verification for them is as easy as using the IRS Data Retrieval tool to connect your 2012 tax return and your FAFSA application.

Avoid my mistake - Financial Aid and Scholarships - College Confidential Forums) about how to send your FAFSA to all schools. In your case, you’ll need to do it three times.

Almost all schools require both the FAFSA and the CSS Profile, because the FAFSA is required by the federal government for any federal aid you may be eligible for (such as work-study or subsidized loans). The deadlines for these schools can vary, and some (like Harvard’s) are as early as Feb. 1st.

You need to spend some time creating a document, spreadsheet, sticky note, whatever, of all the different requirements and deadlines by each school’s financial aid website, which can be found on their websites.
