I know Rice's CSS priority deadline is March 1st, just like its FAFSA deadline. Unfortunately, I wrongly assumed all schools had the same priority deadline, and so the two other schools that participate in CSS have a priority deadline of February 1st...which passed. My parents are filing their taxes tomorrow and were planning on completing everything with me as soon as they come home from filing. I'm freaking out because I missed these deadlines, but my mother insists on completing both the CSS and FAFSA only AFTER she files and absolutely will not do so before. Am I completely screwed when it comes to the other schools financial aid, even though it's a "priority" deadline and their FASFA deadline did not pass?

I am not sure how other schools behave in this respect. If they are like rice,

The ‘priority’ deadline is exactly what it sounds like. Those who submit by then are considered for aid first.

You still have a shot at aid, but how much and whether merit aid will still be available, I do not know

Well, make sure you fill it out ASAP. (You can do estimates if the exact tax info isn’t available/ready.) You still have a chance at aid, but the people who did it before the deadline will get priority. You can always call the financial aid office and double check their policy–some schools may differ, that is just my general understanding.
