CSS-NCP Question

My #2 son is starting to narrow down his college search - will be a senior, top ten in his class, pretty decent test scores but may try to get a point or two more in the fall, and wants to swim in college.

Ex hubby is extremely affluent, but he believes that he has made his contribution to college through whatever I got in the divorce settlement. IE, he is not participating in the financial aspect of college (although he has plenty to say about the whole thing, but that is a whole different topic!)

When I was going through the search with #1 son, I had found a site that listed all the schools that required the CSS -and the ones that additionally required the non-custodial parent form. #1 son went to a school that required both. Ex hubby's data was devastating.

I have found the CSS list - but can't track down a list of schools that require the NCP. Any leads?

Thanks!

I'm not an expert on this, but I believe that most schools that use the Profile require the non-custodial parent form be completed. If you do not want to have the non-custodial parent income and assets figured into your finaid calculation, your child should apply to schools which use the FAFSA only. The FAFSA does not require non-custodial parent information. But do check the college websites as some of those schools have their own school finaid forms which do ask for this information.
