Yesterday was the deadline for the CSS NP Waiver Request form to be submitted. I submitted it about a week prior to the deadline and called today to ensure it was received by the financial aid office. Interestingly enough, my financial aid summary changed today as well. It went from indicating “CSS Noncustodial Profile: Requested” to saying “Noncustodial Waiver Granted”
Does that mean that my waiver has been granted because I have been accepted? I have dealt with other schools who say they don’t like to give a response about the waiver before the deadline because it means a student has been accepted. Has anyone else dealt with this issue? Does the new update on my financial aid to-do list indicated that my waiver has been granted bc I have been accepted, or could it just be a placeholder (it is the word granted that makes me think I have been accepted by NYU).
Thanks to anyone who has dealt with a similar issue.
Interesting concept… I received a FA change before I got accepted, but I’ve never seen this rumor go around CC. Considering you’ve said other colleges indicate it as acceptance, and there are apparently a lot of ways to find out your acceptance before the actual decision date for NYU, I think this may be a good sign for you, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up too high.
@dehca2016 How would you know?
@mbaker122 Where do you even see this?
@renegade23 I called the university and they said they approved my noncustodial waiver request. In addition, on my “To-Do List” under “Financial Aid” on the applicant portal says “NCP Waiver Granted”
Getting a waiver has nothing to do with being admitted.
@excanuck99 how do you know?
Most colleges just don’t have that tight a tie between FA and admissions, nor would there be any dependency between granting the waiver and your decision. Lots of people request the waivers well ahead of time and get an answer long before admissions decisions are made, too. Take it at face value, sounds like you have the waiver. Stop trying to read the tea leaves.
Did you get in? I am in the same situation. I received an email from them that was rather vague but hopeful nonetheless “we review the forms if the student is accepted.” They also sent me a personal email saying it was approved.
My son’s profile for the NCP Waiver status changed from requested to received and granted (today). @runofthemillcollegestudent did you get in?
