CSS Profie question - please help a clueless soul

Hi all,

Okay, so my mom was self-employed last year and she filed for Schedule C. It was a very small amount too, only $1200. But this year, she's no longer self-employed; she quit, and now she's just a regular housewife--no income. So what do I put on the CSS profile thing? Self-employed or no? Or is this unemployment? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm literally clueless. lol

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

PS: She doesn't file for unemployment, hence does not receive unemployment benefits.

You will see that there are sections of the CSS Profile that pertain to what your mom did in 2010, as well as 2009, so just put the information in the section for that year. And I would suggest that you do indeed, list her as unemployed. There is a space to indicate at which month she stopped working. “Unemployed” can be as a result of ending a business as well as losing a job. Hope this helps!

The instructions say if she is unemployed by choice you should NOT put “unemployed”.
