CSS Profile and 529 accounts

Where do we list grandparent owned 529 accounts on the CSS profile?

I don’t believe you list grandparent owned accounts on the Profile…but you will need to list the contributions they make to college costs in subsequent years.

@BelknapPoint am I correct about this??

Yes, you are correct, for now. The balance of a grandparent 529 account is never reported on Profile (or FAFSA). Heck, the student and parents may not even know that such an account exists. You certainly can’t report what you don’t know about (and have no legal or ethical duty to know about). Distributions from a grandparent 529 account for the benefit of the student do currently need to be reported on FAFSA and Profile as untaxed income to the student using the prior-prior schedule, but that requirement for FAFSA is supposedly going away in the near future (maybe with the 2023-2024 FAFSA?).

Edited to add: my familiarity with Profile is several years old, but the “if you don’t know about it how can you report it” logic still applies.
