CSS Profile Correction Dilemma

I need to change my income for 2008. I did my profile months ago and my husband and I are self-employed and made much less this year than expected. I also need to change the estimate for next year. I contacted the schools and they said to printout the CSS Profile, cross out wrong info and replace with new info.

Here is the dilemma:

When I did my FAFSA my EFC was only $3,600.00. When I used the web calculators months ago they said my EFC was $10,000.00. On my CSS Profile where it asks what your family expects to be able to pay I put $8,000.00.

When I make my income corrections should I also change the amount I said I expect to be able to pay?

Yes.

It is never a good idea to submit the Profile before January 1 of the senior year. Unless there is a college that requires it because of ED or EA it should be submitted online at the time of the FAFSA.

Since you have done that, go ahead and make the changes on the Profile Acknowledgement and send directily via snail mail to the college(s) that you originally listed.

Change the estimated aid contribution from parents to $4500. Though it is slightly more than the FM EFC, IM colleges will expect nothing less.
