I need to complete the CSS Profile by December 1st for a school my DD is applying to Early Action. I assume I pick a date to use as a reporting date for assets (after bills are paid, before paychecks go into account, etc.) and estimate 2013 income based upon year to date numbers and remaining estimated income. However, I'll need to fill it out again in February for the remaining schools that require it for regular decision. At that point do I the date I complete it then for assets (a 2014 date)? I seem to remember that updating the FAFSA from "will file" to "have filed" does not change the asset numbers, just income and taxes. Does the Profile change or not?

Also, cash gifts were received by DD and us but are not still in our accounts (car purchased for DD and bills paid/house repairs done). Most is gone from her account but some still remains in our account. I know the Profile requires reporting of the gifts especially if the funds are not still in the accounts. But for us, do I report the entire gift amount or just the amount we spent that is not left in our account. And how much do I need to go into detail in the Special Circumstances question? This was a one time gift and not something we've received in the past or expect to receive in the future?

Thanks!
