I am wondering if when filling out the CSS Profile, which I understand that most schools require a "non custodial supplement", has aproxiamtely the same results with divorced parents using a supplement as married parents? Assuming of course same incomes etc..

Why I ask this is right now we are married, but will be divorce by next years filling time. So I am wondering if a given colleges financial aid would be similar in following years - or maybe better or worse, to try to predict weather we will be able to afford for 3 more years?

FAFSA seems pretty easy to figure out, but not so with Profile

No way to really tell you how the financial aid will look when you are reporting one parent as the non-custodial parent. My understanding is that some schools use this income/assets in the same way as if the parents were married, but others use this information in different ways. Some Profile schools (you would have to check) do not require the non-custodial parent form and others use the information in a very different way than if the parents were married (or so I'm told).

You could call the school(s) and ask them how they deal with non-custodial parent info on the Profile.
