A friend of mine has a doubt with his CSS profile but currently does not have an internet connection so I thought I could help him out. The thing is, as he’s filling the Profile for a wide spectrum of universities, his parents are willing to fund different amounts of money for each uni. For example, 90% for MIT whereas 55% for ASU. Is there a solution to account for this?
PROFILE is based on formula, so what the income and assets which should be the same of all of the school will generate the Expected contribution from the family regardless of what the parents are willing to pay If it’s that one question asking about what the family could pay for college that is hanging him up, he can just put down an minimal amount. It’s not going to get him more aid that the amount is low, but putting in too much has a small chance that a school would take the family up on it The only schools where it might possibly affect are those that are need aware and if he wants to fill the PROFILE out separately for those with different answers, he can but Frankly, I don’t think it’s worth it. Not gonna matter, IMO.
