Hello everyone,
My parents are never married and separated. I live with my mother. My father is little financial supporter (he just seldom visits us).
Yet in CSS Profile, section Parent’s Income and Benefits, the first question is ‘parentS’ income’, then there is question for Parent 1 income and Parent 2 income.
What should I fill in? If my parent 2 does not provide financial supports, should I write 0 in his section, or should I write down his incomes and taxes anyway?
Please help. Thanks a lot.
Some schools require income and asset info from BOTH parents, regardless of whether your parents are married or now divorced. Check to see if your school(s) needs this info. If so you’ll need to contact your father and ask him to fill that part out.
For the CSS profile, if you indicate that your parents are separated, it will only ask about your custodial parent. Double check that you chose the correct relationship status
For CSS Profile, if your school requires NCP info, he will fill out a separate form (not what you’re seeing). The part that you’re seeing now is for parents who are a couple.
Thank you. But CSS Profile is due to send for different schools, isn’t it? I am confused as to what does the terms “parents” refer to, is it parent 1 or both parents.
What even more confusing is: Parents’ Prior income asks about ‘parents’, whereas Parents’ expected income asks about parent 1, although the prior and expected income is likely to be equivalent, right?
No, it’s not.
Your parents are separated, right? They don’t live in the same home, right? That being the case, your mom will complete the profile, and will indicate “separated or divorced” on it. You will only include your mom’s information on it because that is the only parent with whom you reside. You will need to include the contact information for your dad. He will receive information regarding the non-custodial parent Profile…and he will need to complete it for schools where it is required.
The term “parents” refers to any parents (bio, adopted or step)) that live in the student’s household.
The NCP form is for non custodial parent form is for the bio or adopted parent who is no longer in a relationship with the student’s custodial parent.
Oh I got it. Thank you very much for all your helps.
so shall I enter 0 or another number at Parent 2’s salaries?
If you only live with one parent, there is no “Parent 2” on the form that you are filling out.
Ok i got it thank you
