CSS PROFILE HELP

I’m an international student applying for US colleges so I have to fill out CSS Profile and I have a question : in “household summary” for dependent details, my family have an employee at home (a help/nanny) who lives and eats in my house, do I list it as dependent of my parents’ income? it does not have an option for employee, only grandparents siblings etc. but there is an “other” option. I’m confused if i should list her because even if she lives and eats from my parents in my house, she is also paid/earn salary from my parents. anyone can help?

No, that is not a dependent. That is an employee.

@bopper but she eats and lives at my house therefore a ‘dependent’ of my parents?

Right but “dependent” in this case has a specific US Tax meaning. Dependents also have to be US Citizens. Dependents are usually children who depend on you, in a general sense. A nanny is not a dependent because they can leave and go get a different job.

I would contact the educationusa.state.gov advising center in your country for more help.

@natasha1313

The nanny is an EMPLOYEE…not a dependent. There is a difference.

Oh i see, thanks @bopper @thumper1
