CSS Profile in year 2

I know we have to file a FAFSA each year. At schools that require the CSS profile do they require you file the profile each year?

Yes, you have to file the profile every year you are in college.

Not always. Not every school. Some schools do require the PROFILE only for that first year, and upon request. Once they have the first year PROFILE and come up with the aid package, any changes, they can do from FAFSA information.

Huh, didn’t know that. We had to file a profile every year and the school had its own FA form and we had to send in our signed tax forms every year. The first year I forgot to sign them and they sent D an email that they had to be signed. I guess the key would be to look on the website for financial aid procedures for returning students.

We had one college that did NOT require the Profile after freshman year UNLESS your circumstances changed ( e.g. We filed one for senior year when second child entered college).

Other school required it annually.

You need to check each school for what THEY require for renewal of need based aid. It varies.

Thanks to all. D has been accepted to Case Western and is awaiting her decision from Northwestern. I will ask the financial aid departments where applicable.
