Hey everyone! So, this is the situation: when filling out the CSS Profile 2018-19, so that I can apply for financial aid at Northwestern as an international student, I chose “state sponsored” retirement program when asked, but nothing in it said this option was US specific and that I should have put “other type” instead, since I’m not from the US or live there.
I filled it out with my parents, we’re from Brazil, and now that it’s submitted, there’s no way to change it. I’ve already sent a ticket to College Board describing the issue, but I’m worried that this won’t be solved til Dec 1st, which is the deadline for it at Northwestern.
I’m an international student and I made mistakes in my CSS profile after submission too! I wrote to both the college and College Board today. You’ll probably want to inform Northwestern about your situation. They might allow extensions or help you out in other ways… Good luck to both of us!
Send an email or letter to the college explaining the mistake and what the correction would be. They should put the correction in your admittance file for review with all your other documents. You could also call the college admissions / financial aid office for advice on what to do. I’m sure the school has a policy for corrections to tha CSS profile.
My D discovered a mistake on hers last year a quick email to the college she was applying to sorted out the issue.
