I am currently a freshman in college and while completing my Profile CSS, I came across question sd110A, which stated How much did you or will you receive in scholarships, grants, and gift aid during the 2010-11 academic year? Is this referring to the money the school gives me along with Federal Pell Grants and Fafsa money? or is it only referring to other scholarships from outside sources not relating to my college or federal aid? I am confused by this question and am worried how it will affect my financial aid next year. Any input would be helpful. Thank you.

Bump. Any help would really be appreciated.

There are instructions for each question on the CSS. That particular question only references the amounts of FREE money you received last year (meaning you will not be paying back any of the amounts) that total amount is what you enter. So if you had scholarships(both from school and outside), grants, and gift aid (such as someone giving you money for school) then total them all and enter amount.

Does this include merit scholarships directly from the school? If it does, I see this greatly affecting EFC for each subsequent year! Money isn’t really being transferred- I thought it was more of a tuition reduction rather than a scholarship. Could you please confirm this?! Thanks

Yea im still unsure whether the money the school gives you counts as a scholarship and should federal money be considered a “scholarship or grant” as well. If anyone could please clarify it would be really helpful.
