I have 5 colleges that want the CSS Profile, can I for now only send my profile to one school, my early decision school? if I don't get into the school I'd then send the profile to the other ones. Yes?..... Anyone who can help me?

That is what we are doing. Waiting till we have actual 2012 numbers for the other schools instead of sending estimates. We only sent to the EA school for now. When you add schools, you can update the actual numbers.

Can someone verify this? I thought once the Profile was submitted you could no longer make changes to it online. You would have to make manual corrections to a printed copy.

That is correct for the first school you submit it to. You will have to print it to send them corrections. But when you add another school you can update the information so that second school would get the correct information directly from the CSS Profile. After submitting our CSS to the EA school there was a message on the screen explaining that changes can be made when you add another school. We will not add other schools until January when we have actual numbers.

In the end, PROFILE connects with your tax return so that those numbers replace your estimates. So you don’t have to make the correction. Filing your tax return will generate the actual figures.

Profile does not connect with your tax returns. The FAFSA has the IRS retrieval tool, not the Profile.

There is something that you connect with for PROFILE,Thumper that automatically updates your PROFILE info. Think it starts with an “i”; can’t remember the name. But that is how the actual numbers are generated.

CPT, are you thinking of IDOC? If so, only some Profile schools use this. What happens with IDOC is the student submits all tax documents to IDOC and these are then transmitted to the colleges. There is not a retrieval tool accessing the tax returns , this is done by the colleges.
