I applied ED to my top school and my parents submitted the CSS profile by October 24.
My parents have saved the bank statements and balances (savings, checking) dated October 24th just in case.

Every year my family and I go back to Australia for Xmass break and is a lot of $$ for tickets hotels etc.
The bank account balance has change (saving checking) since the purchase of tickets hotels, gifts to grandparents etc.

I am going to submit my applications RD for my other colleges in the next few days as well as the CSS.
Should my parents make corrections to the CSS profile about their account balances as they show as of today? or just keep it as they were submitted for my ED school back in Oct 24?

Technically, every single day most people’s bank balances change. But if it is a big change, and the only thing changing, why not correct it?

There is also a spot at the end of the CSS Profile to say if there are any special circumstances, if you feel you want to explain anything.

Then again, when do you hear from the ED school? My son is waiting to hear form his ED school to send in any RD applications, one reason is to save money on CSS Profile applications. Also, he applied RD to one school because of a scholarship deadline, and he is waiting until he hears from his ED school to submit the CSS Profile, because they say they don’t need it until February 1st (with the FAFSA).

Someone will correct me if I’m wrong…I believe for schools you have NOT submitted to yet, ypunare actually creating that Profile, so your assets would be as of the date of that initial submission to those schools.

You cannot correct the asset amounts on the Profiles you have already submitted for early deadlines.

ED letters for my college should be out next week 15th-16th. We are leaving the country Sat 20th. That is why I want to submit ED and CSS applications soon, before I go. As for the changes in the accounts (savings-checking) is quite substantial. I do not know the entire amount changes in the bank account, but my mum said the flight tickets were a wee bit pricey around $2500 each, so we are a family of 4 that totals $10,0000 + hotel + car rental and other things. I really don’t know…my parents don’t give details on this things. I could always ask them. So, that is a lot of money difference to make changes the information in the CSS?

yes that part i do know. What me and my parents want to know is if we can make the changes-adjustments for the other schools CSS I will be applying to in the next few days to represent the actual current account balances.

The main thing is, my parents want to do things right. They do not want to be audited. They pride themselves in always been truthful. BUT they dont want to make a mistake by not changing to the actual updated account balances as of today, that might affect in a negative way the CSS if they keep it as is(october 24th).

Yes, you can do this. But if you will have a few days between learning your ED decision and leaving the country, I suggest that you wait to submit any RD apps until you know your ED result. Have everything ready to go, but wait to hit “send” until you know that you will need to.
