CSS Profile Question: How much did or will your parents pay for your education for the 2015-16 year?

Hi Guys

So they ask this question on CSS Profile…How much did or will your parents pay for your education for the 2015-16 academic year?

I know it includes tuition, room and board. Pretty much everything educational. But I was wondering why they ask this. Does it matter if the number is high or low? I’m pretty much paying around $22000 per year but how will I be treated someone who is perhaps living at home etc.?
