CSS Profile Question

Hi parents....I applied to many schools...too many actually. Anyway, I've already been accepted to my 4 safeties and my 3 matches...which thrilled me. I've also been accepted ED to one of my reaches and heard through a coach that I'm in at another reach...which really thrilled me. I've spent a lot of money on application fees, SAT/ACT tests and extra reports, and a few CSS profiles. I thought I was done writing and spending for a while.

This week I received an email from 3 of my ultra reach schools urging me to send several financial documents including the CSS profile ($18 each). My question is: are these schools considering me seriously? Does the financial aid department hear any word from admissions before they send such emails? I think it would be kind of mean to ask kids to spend an extra $18 per school on the CSS profile and postage for mailing tax returns when they know they're already in the decline pile.

Im' feeling kind of weary at this point, but I don't want to pass up any great opportunities. Should I send all of the documents and pay the fees to schools that were a super stretch (Ivy) from the start? Or should I call it a day and save my bucks.

Flstudent, if your statement that you've been accepted ED to one of your reaches is accurate and not a typo, then the question is moot. Once you are accepted ED, you must withdraw your applications from other schools. Did you happen to mean EA?

if you have been accepted to your ED school, all you have to do is withdraw your other applications.

Yep! Sorry....I meant EA. I have the choice of enrolling or not. I did not do any ED applications.

if you are applying to a school and requesting finaid and that school requires PROFILE, then filling out the PROFILE is part of your application.
I realize that $18 can seem like a lot- but from my view at the end of the process for one daughter, $18 is a drop in the bucket, and if you are interested in those schools, and they potentially will meet 100% of your need, then filling out the PROFILE is a very wise financial decision.
HOwever- I just noticed that you already have been accepted at 7 schools, that is plenty for anyone to choose from- congratulations!- but...... without filling out the PROFILE you may always wonder if you could have gotten in to those other schools- only you know how you would feel about that
