I just found out that the CSS Profile is required every year for my son's university if you need financial aid. Yuk! I have two separate questions.

1) Do you have to claim "University Gift Aid" which is a financial aid grant for the question "How much did you receive in scholarships and grants during the 08-09 school year?"

2) My son receives a $10,000 per year outside scholarship. There is a section asking about how much the student will receive in outside scholarships for the next year. Will this count as income reducing the grant aid from the university?

This year the scholarship took away his self help part of his bill leaving us with our parent contribution. I am hoping it would be the same for the next year but I am afraid they will refigure everything and he will have the self help portion come back and he will have to cover it with loans. I just wondered if anyone had any experience with it.
