Hi, I got accepted into the University of Rochester ED. I just got my letter today saying that I will recieve the financail stuff next week.

The problem is that when I already completed my CSS profile, but I sent it to a different college, I haven't sent it to U of Rochester yet. I found out latter that I TOTALLY put the wrong info on the CSS profile. I was using my parents State tax returns instead of the US federal tax returns.

I know you can't make changes on line? what should I do? Print out a copy of the profile and put the corrections in the margains?

thanks!

p.s. I submitted the FAFSA already, so how big will the CSS profile be in my finanical aid decisions?

PROFILE will be what determines your package most of the time. Schools that use PROFILE or their own apps do so because they are not interested that much in FAFSA beyond determining the applicant's eligibility for govt money. You have to fill out FAFSA to get any of that money, and those are fundamentals for all colleges who are putting together a package since those funds do not come out of their coffers but from the government. You have to PROFILE to get any money from the college, so you had better send the copy with corrections NOW.

You will need to send that "wrong" Profile to Rochester and to correct the Profile, you will need to print it out, and hand write the corrections. Of course you will also need to do this AGAIN once your parents' and your tax returns are completed. Call U R and ask them their procedure for corrections to the Profile.

You applied to UofR ED but sent the CSS to another school? Did you apply ED to 2 schools? The CSS was due to Rochester Nov 1 for ED; maybe you applied there regular decision? In which case you have time but otherwise it does not look good...

My son sent Profile to his EA school. We have to send Profile to RD schools now and know some of the Nov estimates were wrong. I didn't think you could make changes to Profile online (and you can't for the original school) - but my DH was able to change the original Profile to send to the other schools (it was the first Profile they would receive). He sent the "new - updated" Profile to 3 schools last night. At least one still has to be completed because it has supplemental questions.

Of course, once taxes are done, we'll have to update all the Profiles (by hand) and resend through the mail. We chose to send more accurate Profiles now so the financial aid packages wouldn't change much (if at all) when we get the final numbers together.

Since UR hasn't gotten a Profile yet, you could do a more accurate Profile now and send that.

If you applied EDII it is not clear when the finaid deadline is - so you could be OK. They are fussy about deadlines so do as they suggest above and send the corrected profile to Rochester asap. good luck.
