I will be attending a college that requires the CSS profile from my custodial parent but that does not require the noncustodial parent profile (NCP), which is perfect for me since my noncustodial parent is not helping me pay for college.
Currently, the school is affordable for my custodial parent, but what happens if the NCP policy changes throughout any of the four years that I am there? Could a school suddenly start requiring its students to provide noncustodial parent info despite them not knowing that they would have to do so?
I may just be completely overthinking this, but could this scenario be possible throughout my undergrad years? If so, I don’t think I could even get my noncustodial parent to fill out the profile. I also don’t have any documentation to qualify for an NCP waiver. How would this impact my financial aid?
