What do I do?....the CSS Profile for financial aid sent me this letter saying they need my parents 2004 tax returns....but my tax returns are not going to be done for a while!

er... you better get to it, girl (haven't your parents gotten their w-2 forms yet?)

well....they have an appointment with the accountant (my parents run two businesses) and i prbly wont have the returns until close to April 15.

dude, im a guy :)

lol, and i'm a girl. sorry!

you can send w-2's or if you don't have w-2's you can probably show them last year's 2003 tax return. ask the accountant to write something.

thanx!....i emailed yale just to make sure too!

i got a similar email...but it said that three schools in particular wanted specific financial information.....i haven't gotten around to sending what they requested though

btw, u think the schools named have extra interest in me? i doubt it though, cause i've heard that admissions and financial aid work independently of each other

Is March 15 too late to send in all those forms case thats when my dad says he will have them?

I would just send them anyway. You can email them though to make sure.

You're supposed to send tax returns and W2's through College Board's IDOC service, but if you don't have 2004 info yet you should send 2003 to the financial aid office directly.

That's what it says on the finaid website.
http://www.yale.edu/sfas/financial/regulardecisionclassof09US.pdf

I sent my 03 to IDOC, but they returned it to me!!!

Do colleges think of you as irresponsible if you don't get these financial aid forms in on time? I haven't sent them in for any of my colleges yet for the said reasons.

siavash, that's because you have to send 2003 stuff to Yale's finaid office directly. See my link above.

I think you are only hurting yourself if you don't send stuff in on time. It just means that you won't be getting an accurate finaid package (or less than what you'd like). But I think they are understanding, since March is way before April 15, and some people do wait until the last minute. Also, it in no way affects your admissions decision.
