<p>I agree! Is it new? I don't remember it from previous years. What a ridiculous question. Of course those who are eligible to receive SS benefits upon retirement would plan to do so - but considering that there may well be no SS to draw from when I retire, it's a moot point. Let me get out my crystal ball ...</p>
<p>I remember CSS Profile had a whole list of questions that basically tried to flesh out how the parents were planning on funding themselves during retirement--it asked whether parents had pensions also in addition to 401Ks.</p>
<p>Not every gets Social Security benefits when they turn the ripe age of XX. You have to have worked in jobs that paid into the system for a number of years. Just ask your parents if they will be eligible to collect Social Security when the time comes. I would put that answer down as a response to that question.</p>
