CSS Profile asks the following info for the Parents' Expenses section:

"Enter the amount of medical and dental expenses your parents paid in 2010
that were not covered my insurance or dental plan."

Does medical expense include insurance premium payments?
If not, is medical insurance premium payments covered anywhere on the CSS? My father gets a huge monthly deduction on his income that goes towards medical insurance.

This part is confusing. Somewhere the instructions say to use the amount that would be on schedule A, except you would use the total and not deduct 7.5% of AGI. So medical insurance premiums are deductible unless paid with pretax dollars. Now since these pretax dollars are added back to income for the EFC calculation, I would think that they should be included here (since this is not schedule A).
I have been told to include long-term care insurance also. If you have a lot of medical expenses, it would be a good idea to list them and the amounts on an attachment, otherwise they will probably be limited to the amount in the formula. I.e. I put $5000 for medical expenses in the calculator on the college board, and in the details it showed that I received an allowance for $1700.
