CSS SQ Supplemental Q's Optional?

I was on the CSS profile and I reached the SQ (Supplemental Questions) portion, which is filled with questions asked by particular colleges. I noticed that I could submit my CSS without answering the supplemental questions. Are these optional? (There are some questions in RED that you must answer, but it lets you leave the rest blank).

What's going on here?

If you are applying to a college that wants that supplemental information, I would assume you need to supply it.

Well I’d rather not answer any if I can. That’s why I’m asking if they’re optional.

Since the supplemental questions are school-specific, I guess the only way you could know for sure is to call the school and ask.

If any of your colleges require supplemental questions you are REQUIRED to answer them. These schools want this information. My guess is they will not process your financial aid application without all of the information THEY require. You do not get to choose.

@thumper: that makes sense, but then why am I able to submit without filling them out?

hmmm same here i can submit the CSS with leaving the supps blank, weird. anyone care to explain?

I think CAN leave them blank, but if the school WANTS the information they’re going to say that your form is incomplete and they won’t process you for aid. If it is required by the school (and you will have to check with the school!) , there’s no loophole or trick.
