Does anyone think that a possible CSU admission freeze could affect the TAG programs between California community colleges and the UC system? I ask this because a freeze at CSU would hypothetically send tens of thousands of applicants, particularly California residents looking at UC schools as the closest alternative, creating much more pressure on the UC schools to admit students. Could the TAG program for UC schools become less realistic with so many students being redirected towards it and away from the CSU system?

Not really since UC are more expensive and only accept application in the fall. So, there are students who have no interest in UCs

The Freeze is (for now) only on Spring Admissions, so no it won’t affect UCs. Also, they are still taking some CC transfers for Spring.

thanks! that is good to hear

I think the CSU freeze will have affect on the UCs. Only 8 CSUs are taking apps in the Spring and Fall applicants will be wait-listed. They are turning away 20-25k students in the Fall. Freshmen are getting screwed the worst, whether they get accepted or not depends on whether the tax bill passes or not. The wait-listed students could wait up to 2 years so I don’t see why they wouldn’t go the extra mile to try to get into UC. Yeah UC costs more but with people getting Cal and Pell grants you pay just about the same out of your pocket. I’m writing a story about this in the newspaper at my cc. It’s BS, they also gave two of the president’s 10% pay hikes. My sister is transferring next fall so this CSU freeze is going to suck.
